Eva Butzkies ist 1977 in Freiburg im Breisgau geboren.

Nach dem Kostümdesign-Studium in Hannover und einem Praxissemester bei der Glyndebourne Festival Opera in England, war sie von 2003-2005 als Assistentin am Theater Basel. 

Seit 2004 entwirft sie Kostümbilder für zahlreiche Opern, Schauspielstücke und Tanztheater-Produktionen, an festen Spielstätten ebenso wie für Performances der freien Szene. Eine detaillierte Aufzählung der über 70 Produktionen findet sich hier.

Ihr Kostümbild zum Freilichtspektakel „Don Quixote – The Making of Dreams“ in Biel 2008 war Teil einer Studie der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, die Produktion „Fucking Amal“ (junges theater basel/Theater Basel) gewann den Impulse-Preis 2005 und „Dido und Aeneas“ (Theater Basel 2006) war eingeladen zum Berliner Theatertreffen 2007. Der Kurzfilm „Beckenrand“ (Regie Michael Koch) wurde 2005 für den Schweizer Filmpreis nominiert.

 Eva Butzkies lebt in Basel, hat ein Diplom in Kostümdesign und ein MA Design (Textiles).

Eva Butzkies was born in 1977 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.

After studying costume design in Hanove, Germany, and a internship semester at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in England, she worked as an assistant at the Theater Basel, Switzerland, from 2003-2005.

Since 2004 she has designed costume designs for numerous operas, plays and dance theatre productions, at regional and national theatres (Stadttheater) as well as for performances of the independent scene. A detailed list of over 70 productions can be found on this page.

Her costume design for the open-air spectacle „Don Quixote – The Making of Dreams“ in Biel 2008 was part of a study by the Zurich University of the Arts, the production „Fucking Amal“ (junges theater basel/Theater Basel) won the Impulse Prize 2005 and „Dido und Aeneas“ (Theater Basel 2006) was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen 2007 (a selection of the 10 most remarkable productions of the season). The short film „Beckenrand“ (directed by Michael Koch) was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize in 2005.

Eva Butzkies lives in Basel, Switzerland, holds a diploma in costume design and a MA Design (Textiles).
